Gary Fisher, "Klunkerz" at X-Dance Film Festival
Back in the 70s a group of Bay Area thrill-seekers, including Gary
Fisher, started bombing down Mt Tamalpais on beater bikes salvaged from
the dump. Fast forward to 2007 and Billy Savages documentary
Klunkerz about that scene when mountain biking took hold will be screening at the 2007 X-Dance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
Director and California native, Billy Savage, will be screening
Klunkerz
Sunday, January 21, at the X-Dance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
X-Dance is a four-day showcase for the best action sports films. The
event celebrates the films and culture that are a critical to all
action sports. For more information including the screening schedule
see:

Klunkerz was a two-year passion project for Billy Savage. The
former skateboarder and lifetime mountain biker, collected archival
footage and still photography from those early days on Mount Tamalpais
and culled interviews with those original pioneers to help recreate the
scene that sparked mountain biking as we know it. The feature-length
documentary premiered in October 2006 and has been playing select film
festivals since then. For more
Klunkerz information and a trailer visit:

Gary Fisher will be on hand for the X-Dance screening along with
director Billy Savage. After the screening Billy and Gary will take
questions from the audience. Gary should be able to give even a deeper
understanding of what happened during those early days on Mt Tam.
While at X-Dance, Gary will also be honored with a Lifetime Achievement
Award from the X-Dance Festival. This is quite an honor considering
X-Dance deals with all action sports athletes and legends. Past
Lifetime Achievement Award winner includes the father of surf films
Bruce Browne.
Its a fitting tribute for Gary Fisher whos accomplishments go well
past those days on Mt Tam. As a founder of Mountain Bikes Gary helped
coin the phrase for our sport. He has also built the successful Gary
Fisher Bikes line. Helped establish mountain bike racing by founding
the longest running pro team. He also had a hand in pushing the
development of the bike with dual suspension and 29 wheels.
