High Praise for the HiFi

Trail Bike Shootout

You'll know right away this is not your dad's Gary Fisher.

Scanning the wrecking crew's worksheets revealed words like "feels alive," "fresh," "lively" and "fun."

The HiFi steers great at slow speeds, making it simple to hold your line and not wander while moving up the mountain.

The G2 geometry makes the HiFi feel lively at the handlebar, and the front tire stays hooked up around corners.

The Fisher HiFi is a fantastic example of what a modern-day trail bike should be — a little bit of everything. Want to go on a back country, all-day ride? Take the HiFi. Invited to ride on a 24-hour team? Slap a number plate on the HiFi. Always wanted to try a Super D race? Flip the ProPedal lever off, make sure the fork is open, and slip on your elbow pads. The HiFi is ready to roll. Want a bike that is so fun to ride that you never want to put it away? Yes, the HiFi is coming in loud and clear.

MBA Trail Bike Shootout
First Place
Fisher HiFi

We are talking about the most improved bike of the year. The G2 geometry moves the this bike to the head of the class after years of mid-pack placings in our shootouts.

Building a great trailbike requires walking a tightrope. While other bikes appealed strongly to two different types of trail riders, every rider ranked the Fisher highly, and it deserves the win. There wasn't a crewer who didn't want to take extra laps on the HiFi, and everyone came back with a smile on their face. Sounds like a winner to us.

Women's Mountain Bike
Gary Fisher HiFi Deluxe GS
This year's winner, the Gary Fisher HiFi Deluxe GS, "tracked true whether we were scaling a rocky climb or descending a fire road." Its "stellar" slow-speed handling was appreciated "when making U-turns and navigating twisty singletrack."

All this tweaking has subtle effects on the ride. The word that comes to mind is "neutral"— the handling is lively without being twitchy, and the difference in negotiating slow, twisty maneuvers and sweeping downhill curves is minimal, equally accurate either way.

Experience why Gary fell in love with mountain biking.

The HiFi... manages to capture the spirit of an earlier, simpler time when riders would pit one bicycle, the only one they owned, against anything that man or Mother Nature had to offer on that particular day.

The HiFi rolls along like no Fisher we've ridden in a long while. It feels alive and fresh under its rider, and the slightest pressure on the pedals sends it scooting along.

Fisher's custom offset and G2 Geometry deliver as promised, with a lively, easy feeling at the handlebar and a front tire that stays hooked up around corners.

Its handling can only be described as delightful. It tracks your chosen line and can help you figure out almost any surprise situation without pushing any panic buttons.

Gary Fisher and his team have finally crammed the heart and soul of the mountain bike experience into one bicycle. To say that it would make a good marathon racer or an epic trailbike would be limiting its capabilities. The HiFi Pro is a joyful ride, and the possibilities are endless. It makes you want to get out and pedal.

Out-of-the-saddle steeps as well as long, gradual climbs come easier when tires stick to the ground like month-old roadkill.

We found the bike to be perfectly suited for twisty, rocky East Coast singletrack. It swooped through turns with ease, and allowed us to confidently negotiate technical switchbacks.

In general, the HiFi Pro was a pleasure to ride...Its generous suspension soaked up most rough terrain with ease, and it handled very steadily at high speeds. As promised, the improved low speed handling made it fun to play in rock gardens.
