Gary Fisher recently visited Singapore for a whirlwind of media visits,
bike festivals, and plain ol' spreading the good word about bikes. Here are some of the things he had on the docket:
Friday
Go on Prime Time Breakfast TV at 9:15 am.
Rush to the Bike Asia store opening as the VIP guest. While there do an interview with Men's Health magazine.
3:30 pm: Get over to the radio station for an in-studio interview. Joke around with the DJs and pose for photos.
5:15pm: Get over to another radio station for an evening drive home interview. More jokes, more photos.
Evening in-store bike appearance at the Singapore Trek Bicycle Store. Give a talk to the assembled crowd and sign autographs for customers.
Saturday
Wake up. Head out for an interview with Shape Magazine.
Head over to the Singapore Mountain Bike Carnival. While there meet with a Chinese newspaper journalist.
Still at the Mountain Bike Carnival. Sit down for an interview with Spin Magazine - Singapore's first bike magazine
Suit-up and at 5:00 pm lead out riders on a 100km mountain bike
marathon race. Gary did the first lap on his Superfly 29er, but then
had to get back to his hosting duties.
Clean up, get out of the lycra, and sign autographs for festival
attendees. Be there to congratulate the first rider across the line of
the marathon race.
Sunday
7:30 am. Still in Singapore. Go for a group ride with the
Australian-New Zealand Association of Singapore. Pose for pictures with
riders for their magazine.
Noon. Clean up and head over to Bike Asia bike shop and address an assembled audience. Hand out some prizes.
5:00 pm. Head for the coast and the beach. Local dealer T3 Bike
Gears hosting an event with Gary Fisher as the honored guest.
Shortly after that, Gary had a chance to gather himself, get some rest,
and try to ignore the jetlag that never got a chance to set in.
It was a great trip for Gary. Enthusiasm for mountain biking and all
cycling in Singapore is growing. Expect some fast riders to be coming
out of Singapore soon.
